Texas Detox and Mark Houston Recovery: What You Need to Know
Detoxification is defined in the dictionary as “a period of medical treatment, usually including counseling, during which a person is helped to overcome physical and psychological dependence on alcohol or drugs.” According to Wikipedia, alcohol detox is a process by which a “heavy drinker's system is brought back to normal after being used to having alcohol in the body on a continual basis...” Wikipedia is quick to point out, however, that alcohol detox is NOT a treatment for alcoholism. Rather, other treatments must be undergone to “deal with the underlying addiction that caused the alcohol use”.
