Alcohol Addiction Recovery in San Diego, CA
In your lifetime, you will come into contact with at least one person who has a problem with alcohol addiction.
Seeing someone you love struggle with alcoholism is difficult, and it can take an emotional toll on everyone involved. At Mark Houston Recovery, we understand (from firsthand experience) the kind of effects that alcohol can have on a person's body and mental state. We also understand that when you are trying to help a recovering alcoholic get past their addiction and into a life of permanent sobriety, you have to focus on their total well being. This is why we mandate a minimum of 90 days at our drug and alcohol recovery center. Our objective is to demonstrate how the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual elements of our lives are necessary for a full recovery.
Alcohol Rehab Centers and San Diego
To help illustrate the seriousness of alcohol, in 2007, the San Diego City Council passed a one-year ban on alcohol at all city beaches, bay shores and coastal parks. This decision came after a year of unsuccessfully trying to ban alcohol on the beach. Because San Diego's beaches are popular, many young people go there to drink alcohol- a situation which in the past has gotten out of hand. In more recent years, a near riot erupted on Labor Day when lifeguards at Pacific Beach (located in San Diego) had to abandon their towers and police were called in with riot gear to avoid being struck by the barrage of beer cans and bottles being thrown.
Since the ban has been in place, it has been reported that the San Diego police have had to issue fewer tickets for alcohol consumption. Additionally, alcohol offenses involving minors have dropped by almost half. Drunk-in-public arrests also dropped by 7 percent. All of this goes to show how dangerous alcohol can be when it is abused. Often times, the abusers don't even realize the damage and emotional destruction they are doing to those around them.
At Mark Houston Recovery, we have first-hand experience with alcoholism and can understand what goes through the mind of someone who drinks to excess. We are here to help recovering alcoholics and those who seek help realize that there IS a life beyond alcoholism. We provide a safe and encouraging environment for recovering alcoholics, and we emphasize time and again that recovery isn't just something you go through at a drug and alcohol recovery center; but rather, it is a lifelong process.
