According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) approximately 17,602 people were killed in alcohol-related accidents in the year 2006. This accounts for about 40% of the total traffic victims.
The consequences of drinking can be devastating. Alcohol badly affects personal relationships, performance at job, financial loss and most importantly one’s own health.
Drinking and driving has been a serious problem all over the world in spite of various campaigns to spread awareness about its grave consequences.
It is truly sad that cases of teenagers driving under the influence of alcohol are also increasing drastically. By drinking, alcoholics not only ruin their own life and lives of their loved ones, but also life of those innocent people who are out there when they are drinking and driving.
These drunk drivers must not forget that when they are on road they put the lives of real people at risk — people who have their loving families–wife, mother, children–waiting for them at home.
No one has the right to take anyone’s life under any circumstances. The careless attitude of drunk drivers and refusal to get rid of this dangerous drinking habit is something which should be taken very seriously to safeguard the lives of innocent people.
Texas Memorializes Victims Killed by Drunk Drivers
