Everyone has problems. It is the nature of human life to have some sort of strife or conflict. What matters is how we deal with these problems. Sometimes we buckle down and overcome. Sometime, despite our best efforts, the problems can get the best of us.
Even though friends and family offer advice and comfort, we sometimes turn to other things to give us relief. One of these things is alcohol. Whether it is beer or liquor, alcohol does instill a euphoric effect and does offer some condolence to the turmoil in our lives. But it is possible to abuse this crutch. We go back to a thing that makes us feel good. Alcohol’s crutch comes with a price. That price is addiction.
The body can become addicted to alcohol like it does with any drug. Dependence is often created for the alcohol by the body. The euphoric feeling is replaced by a driving need for alcohol and before you realize it, you have another problem to deal with. The body’s dependence on alcohol develops into a disease called alcoholism. The disease is treatable and it is best to treat it before it becomes damaging to your body. Here are some warning signs that you or a loved one may have alcoholism:
Those are the outward physical symptoms. Internal problems develop like an enlarged liver. The liver is used to process poisons from the body and alcohol is basically poisonous to the human body. If you or someone you know is showing these signs then the best thing to do is go get psychological help. Alcoholism is a disease of the mind as well as the body and if you or your loved one can get help with your mental problems through a professional, fixing the physical problems of alcoholism with soon follow.
