Ketamine is another of many drugs increasing in popularity in the underground club scene today. Unfortunately, like all illegal drugs, it can have devastating consequences for those who take and abuse this drug.
Ketamine is an anesthetic which is intended to be used by vets. In recent years it has come to be called Vitamin K, Cat Valiums, and Special K among other nicknames. It is a translucent liquid in its native form but it is also dried and sold as a white powder.
The Dangers of Ketamine Abuse
Although use of Ketamine may cause a euphoric feeling, the damage done could be irreparable to the abuser. Not only can it impair driving, it also can cause severe mood disorders such as: confusion, agitation and paranoia.
It can also cause a person’s body to feel “out of body†and cause them to be temporarily paralyzed (this state is known as “k-holeâ€). Ketamine is also a terrible date rape drug because of this.
Long-term Effects of Ketamine
Ketamine can also disrupt consciousness which ultimately turns into mental disorders, even death. The unfortunate thing about drugs is that just “trying them†can lead to drug addiction in a very short period of time. And addiction takes over before the user has time to stop.
You should never take any illegal drugs or any drug that is addictive unless prescribed to do so for a short period of time by a medical doctor. Even then, it is often common wisdom to seek a second opinion if you are ever unsure.
If you or someone you know is addicted to any drugs, you should seek help. There are help lines and treatment centers that are discreet and private. No one but you and perhaps a close friend or family member needs to know that you are recovering.
Hollywood tries to make drug use look “cool,†and peer pressure can be very difficult to resist. But remember that it’s your life and your body. So don’t waste it. Never start drugs and if you do, turn away before it’s too late. If you know someone on drugs, have the courage to help them before it takes their life. You’ll regret it if you don’t.

It is very hard to know that It cause a person’s body to feel “out of body†and cause them to be temporarily paralyzed. So we should be aware of it.
