“Crack is Wack,” were the famous words spoken by Whitney Houston in an interview with Diane Sawyer where mention was made about Houston’s alleged drug problems. While many view the video and make light of the situation, finding humor in it; there is nothing funny about crack addiction.
What’s the Difference Between Crack and Cocaine?
Crack is actually the slang term for smokeable cocaine. It (crack) is produced to resemble small pieces of rock or candy and is referred to by many different slang names. According to About.com, crack is processed with ammonia or sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and water, and heated to remove the hydrochloride. The term “crack” refers to the crackling sound heard when the mixture is smoked. Because it is smoked, the drug user usually experiences a high in under ten seconds. Another reason that crack is so popular is because it is inexpensive to produce as well as to purchase.
