drug rehab center anniversaryNow one year and one month since we opened the Mark Houston Alcohol and Drug Recovery Center in 2006, we’ve had the chance to really reflect on the outcome of this first year. The statistics are exciting and well exceed the average:

  • 70% of all men who admitted to the Mark Houston Recovery Center finished the program
  • 73% of those who finished the program have never relapsed
  • 45% of the men re-located to the Austin area and continued in a transitional living/half way house situation and are doing great.
  • Between 30 and 25 men in recovery attend Thursday night support group called the Fourth Dimension Group

I talked with former residents to get their perspectives on why the program was so successful for them when others have not been. Here’s what they said:

  • All male residents and staff
  • Staff model recovery at the highest levels
  • Program flexibility
  • Program models real life
  • High staff to resident ratio
  • Daily schedule builds disciple and accountability
  • Staff makes being sober and responsible fun
  • Environment is “awesome”
  • Nutrition and physical work out plan is first class
  • Work all 12 steps
  • Held accountable for all actions
  • High exposure to recovery community
  • Consistent message

We’re very excited that the ideas and practices we teach and model at the MHR Center are changing the lives of these men and are looking forward to many years of the same.
