Winehouse gets Treatment…Maybe.

Writing about Amy Winehouse in rehab is something like writing about Micheal Jordan playing hoops.  It’s nothing new or exciting, just par for the course.  The sad thing is that Winehouse’s retirement will be into the comfortable surrounds of a pine box if she cannot squash her addictions.  The facts are these: Winehouse’s father, Mitch, reported that his daughter was attempting to recover from her drug addictions at a location near her jailed Blake.  The ironic thing is that there was much detail floating around about the facility Winehouse would be attending, and now we are learning that none of it was true…or is it?

Winehouse has an obvious problem controlling her demons.  She has been videotaped smoking what appeared to be crack cocaine shortly before a stint in a drug abuse program.  She has had in-laws peading for her treatment, or incarceration.  The New Zealand Herald is reporting that Winehouse is indeed going to seek treatment and that her father is quoted as saying:

“This is a very good idea. If she can get clean and still see Blake it can only be good.”

The most recent drug treatment program for Amy comes on the heels of what by all respects was a terrible performance.  Winehouse arrived late and was subsequently booed by fans.  Winehouse failed to attend the same concert last year after a suspected overdose.

Winehouse is this generation’s Billie Holiday, Hendrix, and Layne Staley.  The same patterns of behavior are shared by all four…and we know how the first three’s story ended.
