GDCADA -- Taking Steps Toward A Better Dallas
There's one simple fact that most people ignore when it comes to the topic of alcohol abuse, alcohol relapse prevention and alcohol rehab centers. Alcohol is a drug. Yes it's legal if you're 21 and older and yes it's a beverage but the plain truth is that it is the most used and abused psychoactive drug in the world. If you're not familiar with the term, psychoactive drugs are defined as chemical substances that act upon the central nervous system and alter brain function. And believe it or not, alcohol is a legal psychoactive drug that is advertised on television, in magazines and even part of corporate sponsorships. The sad truth is that most people take this for granted. Unfortunately research and statistics continue to reveal the negative and often fatal effects of alcohol addiction. Thankfully for the residents of Dallas, organizations like the Greater Dallas Council on Alcohol & Drug Abuse does its best to keep the people informed. GDCADA's mission to improve their community's’ health, safety, and productivity by reducing the incidence and impact of alcohol and drug abuse is one that they've maintained since forming in 1946. Since Mark Houston Recovery's forming we have maintained our goal of providing our residents with a set of life skills and spiritual balance that will be incorporated and assimilated into their minds and hearts and allow them to recreate and reclaim their lives.
