Frequently Asked Questions
Why do you take male residents only?
Outcome studies support gender-specific recovery models. The ability to share openly without fear of judgment and shame is part of the healing process and this sharing is facilitated by the all-male resident and staff makeup. Also, the lack of female residents reduces the likelihood of residents' distractions from the process of recovery.
Are you a "licensed" alcohol and drug treatment center?
A licensed facility is one that is legally regulated to provide medical care, so no, we are not medically licensed. After experiencing our own recovery, we have invented a non-clinical program to provide rehab unavailable at traditional clinical treatment and sober-living homes. We do not fit into the traditional, medical, clinical facility model and thus, are not a “licensed” medical facility. We are a recovery/spiritual center that provides a very structured and comprehensive curriculum of life skills and spiritual practices which our residents will incorporate into their daily lives to bring about permanent recovery.
What is the cost of the program?
The cost is $11,000 per month.
What if I need to stay more than 90 days?
The cost is $10,000 per month after the first three months.
When do you conduct admissions?
Time and date of admissions will be coordinated by appointment only.
Do you take insurance?
No, we are private pay only.
What are the major benefits of your Recovery Center?
Our benefits include: gender specific, men only, staff and residents; a beautiful setting in the Austin, Texas area; a highly structured daily life for residents; life skills seldom addressed in the recovery process and spiritual laws and practices are taught; disciplines of Steps 10, 11 and 12 are experienced every day; physical exercise is an essential daily practice; nutritional guidance is provided; and enlightening instruction, motivational talks and proactive dialogue are practiced, rather than lectures.
What are the qualifications of your staff?
All staff are in recovery from alcoholism and drug addiction and have adopted the way of living taught in Mark Houston Recovery's program. We teach from practical experience, not theory or opinion. Almost all of the staff have worked in the field of chemical dependency for many years. Our Recovery Center has relationships with fine doctors and therapists if medical or psychological needs arise during the residents stay. There are many fine treatment centers throughout the country if you need treatment. If you have completed treatment and want to learn to live a sober, responsible, committed life full of promise and fun we can help.
Are you a member of a national organization?
Yes, we are a proud member of the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP).
