Police and Law Enforcement

Law Enforcement and Drug Addiction Treatment; a Partnership That Protects Societies

Though it seems logical that individuals would avoid illegal behavior out of fear of the consequences, those with serious drug and alcohol problems continue to engage in activities that are destructive to themselves and society. The job of law enforcement is to enforce the law and to hold people accountable for their actions, not to rehabilitate.

Because of the deep hold that drugs and alcohol have around a person's mental health, there is a high likelihood that many offenders will continue to repeat their actions, despite the possibility of arrest, until they have learned how to manage the root causes behind their problems.

These reference materials are designed to speak frankly to those whose drug and alcohol problems have led to arrests and legal complications. The materials reflect the belief that people must be held accountable for their actions regardless of their problems.
